- Do not try to reload/update microcode at runtime after package

early microcode update via initrd. bnc#896736
- Update to Intel microcode version 20140624 (bnc#896736, fate#317896)
This microcode disables lock elision on CPUs which are known to
not work reliable with this feature
- Update to Intel microcode version 20140624 (bnc#885213)

- Regenerate the initrd in %posttrans (fate#313506)
- ucode 20140122, no changelog available.
- Loading firmware needs udev to be running
- Add mkinitrd script to add Intel microcode to initrd.
This is needed because microcode driver is built in or gets loaded
automatically via udev early. Therefore the microcode has to be available
  in initrd already.
This must not be mixed up with early micorcode loading. This feature will
not be implemented via mkinitrd. Dracut is doing early microcode loading.
- bnc#847158
- mkinitrd scripts:

- Correct Supplements string so that the package gets correctly installed
  on machines with Intel CPUs
  bnc#847158
- ucode 20130906, no changelog available.
- ucode 20130808, as usual, no changelog available.
- Run spec-cleaner
- Initial packaging. Moved microcode from microctl_ctl package.

Not really this update, but I don't have the older announcement around anymore
and this one does quite some branding updates, too:

The plasma-splash changed from the (beautiful) glowing geeko-bulb to a coarse
crayon drawing :(   Is that going to be the new official one, and/or can I get
the old bulb back?

so instead of re-announcing a new snapshot a title regarding splash

the "old bulb" was much better looking imo also.  I would like it back.

fwiw:
the preferred image is here
  http://wahoo.no-ip.org/~paka/bulb.png

it goes in:
  /usr/share/plasma/look-and-feel/org.openSUSE.desktop/contents/splash/images

and apparently needs to be converted to "bulb.svg", also available here
  http://wahoo.no-ip.org/~paka/bulb.svg

note: not tried yet and bulb.svg may need to be gzip compressed to bulb.svgz

The old bulb is set to be retired with all of the other Leap 42.* branding

I'm sure our artistic contributors are happy to have your feedback,
but in the same way that "please revert everything you did, I just
want the old version" is insulting to a package maintainer, I remind
you that it's no different in this case

So please respect the work that has been done to give Leap 15 &
Tumbleweed a new lick of paint, and redirect your suggestions in a
productive & progressive direction, not a regressive one.

you will notice the statement was qualified, "imo".  and my preferences
are just that, my preferences.

in no way was my comment "insulting" or intended to be.

and perhaps you haven't completely mollified your "attack dog" attitude.
Please consider working on that.

I agree and disagree with you on that (being original creator of the new
bulb). Green glow is not something I spearheaded, and I don't entirely
agree with that (in fact I think I was ignored when making comments about
not liking how bulb was treated). However, you instantly recognized it to
be lightbulb and I am more than happy to hear that, that was the point,
simple representation of lightbulb, you just missed medium, it's not
crayons, but neon lights (and I'm well aware that the way it's
represented on KDE splash doesn't really look like it, because of some
edits done to it, not by me :/).

Bringing it back is not hard as well, contribute to OBS package, somebody
will decide if that's the way forwards or backwards ;)

The approach we do in Fedora is that we keep every iteration of the
artwork in the packaging, we just switch the default across each new
release. It sounds like that would make sense for openSUSE artwork
too. :)

offering a description is from the eyes of the observer, therefore an
opinion of observed conditions.

are you endeavouring to place me in a position to be banned?  the OP's
post was made publically, and was "imo" derogatory of me.  the post could
just as well served by being off-list.

but while the other posts were fitting for opensuse-factory, the
conversation has deviated enough to no longer be on topic.

we can continue privately, if you wish.  I really do not.

and according to my logs, there is a considerable interest in the older
bulb.png.

for those interested, substituting bulb.png converted to bulb.svg restores
the older bulb display.

This is the approach I take for enlightenment branding, but it isn't a 0
cost solution as I need to make sure that new UI components are added
etc sometimes there are minor breaks between versions (GTK has been even
worse at this at times)

there is no anger, best to just let it drop.

since I posted the link, there have been 142 access to my web site for
"bulb", but I would guess only half would be a more representative count.
